DARIEN LAKE FUN COUNTRY, 1960-1988
Opening in 1960 as simply a campground and picnic park, Darien Lake quickly added waterslides, amusement rides and an expansive concert venue to eventually become New York State’s most popular theme park and camping resort.

Darien Lake soon became one of the largest camping facilities in the United States. Shortly after, through vision, hard work, and relentless commitment, Darien Lake Camping Resort was developed into a theme park and established itself as “the largest privately owned attraction in New York State”. In the late 1980’s it was sold and Mr. Snyder continued his investment in our Western New York Community.

In addition to the 2,000 acre camping resort, the 100-plus thrill rides and a water park that is endless fun for “kids” of all ages, Darien Lake Theme Park has a 21,000 seat amphitheatre which attracts internationally famous acts like Celine Dion, The Who, and Britney Spears.
